Change Featured Listing's Layout

Hi there,

I would like to change the layout of the featured listings by making these minor changes:

1. Replace the old-looking, light skin toned background with a custom colour (or just white, like the standard listing layout).
2. Put a badge (image overlay?) on the top/corner of the image (entry-cover).
3. Add a Border without getting the layout out of proportion (*optional).

Would be cool if this would possible via some code snippets and/or custom CSS.
Please help.
