Custom fields not searchable

Dear Jomark,

as you might know, I run a directory for lactation support using Vantage directory theme. I have just realised that the search in custom fields does not work. You can search for a word in the fields "description" and "keywords", but not in custom fields. In my directory for lactation support custom fields are crucial. The lactation consultants fill in their qualifications, consultation fields, languages and additional services. Often mothers need a special qualification or language and search for it in the directory, but it shows no results, because they are filled in custom fields.

How can custom fields be made searchable?
