Better Backfill Content for JobRoller
This thread is dedicated to JobRoller user who still need content to backfill their sites by importing jobs via XML.
It's still the first try from our site and a chance to get a better content as backfill than the most of other feeds including in their job description by their limited content restrictions.
We are still working on it to get the quality of feed as perfect as can be.
Please notice - it has actually not the status of perfection we are expecting by ourself. But we'll get it to that status soon.
So we prepared our very first dynamic XML Feed URL - for everyone who like to use it - with following features:
################################################## #
Example URL:
http://jobs-jobs-jobs.de/xml-publish...jt=&dt=&dl=600
################################################## #
Possible parameter and values:
q= (filter results for any key phrase)
co= (filter results by country)
st= (filter results by region/state)
cty= (filter results by city/area)
lat= (is set automatically in case is given)
long= (is set automatically in case is given)
cat= (filter results by category - use home page tab and url values to fill it in right)
jt= (possible values are -> full-time, part-time, vollzeit, teilzeit, keine-angabe, not-specified. Actually most of employers are still a little lazy to fill out the job type. Then not-specified is set as default. Just leave this parameter value empty to find all types)
js= (possible values are -> unter-10000,10000-30000,30000-60000,60000-90000,ueber-100000,keine-angabe)
cp= (filter results by company. Notie that single words must be filtered with "+" sign. For example cp=bosch+rexroth)
fcl=1 (filter results by featured jobs in categories)
ftl=1 (filter results by top featured jobs on home page and search pages)
dt= (filter results for job listings of the last 0-30 days. For example "dt=0" will filter the actually jobs of the day / "dt=1" will filter the results for jobs of today+yesterday / "dt=6" will filter the jobs of last week. Don't use parameter or leave value empty to get all jobs of the last 30 days)
dl= (limit description from 0-unlimited characters)
rs= (limit results 1-100)
################################################## #
Maximum of results are currently limited to 100 listings per request.
################################################## #
Regarding longitude and latitude data:
We all know that Jobroller is abused from Google Maps Api that's restricted to 2500 queries per day and IP. That's why our listings - and might the imported listings of some other users - do not have this data at all because we update/import more than 2500 listings per day. And we won't get Google will become richer by it's Paid Map Services.
So if your import records are less than 2500 per day - then for this case we can provide a very good working solution to grab lat/long data
automatically during XML import as soon as any location is given in geo_address - or - geo_short_address - or - geo_country fields.
You can do it with EVERY feed that has no longitude/latitude provided in it's tree! Only notice that restrictions are only given by Google and it's 2500 queries per day.
Meanwhile we are working on a solution making Jobroller compatible with Geo City Light Database of Maxmind. This is surely a more advanced solution for bigger installs because Jobroller can work with it's own Geo Database and this can increase some performance of Jobroller because it must not wait of Google Maps API answers during querying that restricted services. And best at least - their will be no more restrictions of geo data queries!
