Change Theme Background Colour To Be Same As Header Colour

Dear All

I have a site at www.internationalmedicaljobs.com

I have spent all day trying to work this out to no avail.

I would like to do two things:

1. Get rid of the white border that surrounds my banner logo
2. Change the whole background colour to be the same as the header background colour similar to what this site has done (http://www.chefrecruit.com/)

The most critical thing for me is how to remove the white border but if i could get both questions answered that would be awesome.
