Location Based Job Board Advice
Don't use the search by location feature if your job board is city specific.
If your job board is "Jobs in Chicago", don't use it. Even if your site is for an area, don't use it. I could even make a strong case for not using it on a regional or national level, especially when you're getting started.
It is counterintuitive to visit MiamiJobs.com (fictitious example) and see a search by location of 1,5,50,250,5000 miles.
The moral of the story: if your domain or site implies all the jobs are in a certain area, stick with keyword search.
If you don't know how to hide or disable it, hire someone who knows what they're doing. Hiring doesn't necessarily mean "for money". It could be a link to their site, a blog post about their site, posting a job on their site...
