I've been building sites for several years utilizing various forms of monetisation. Ebay Partner Network has been my best performer. Had success with BANS (Build A Niche Store) sites and phpBay to varying degrees.

I originally got involved in earlier versions of Classipress and Auction2post looking for an alternative to the BANS software. In early 2012, I decided to have a crack at modifying Auction2Post (for custom post-types) due to its huge potential. There is simply no other wordpress plugin like it using eBay's API. It's a premium plugin and unique in many ways. One of the positive things about A2P is that it doesn't have a huge footprint all over the internet unlike the old BANS software which was flogged to death resulting in many sites being de-indexed.

The original owner of A2P lost interest in the plugin and didn't provide any updates for over 2 years .....hence my attempts to create my own mods to his original plugin.

*NB. In late 2012, I purchased the rights to Auction2post and the associated Zixby group of software. I did this in conjunction with another A2P member (also an Appthemes member). We eventually released a modified A2P version named 'Auction2Press' for use with Classipress. However, in May 2015, we released a new version of Auction2post which now incorporates all of the Auction2press features plus a heap of new features :-)
