Click edit to edit the ad, look near the publish / update button in the upper right. You will see an option to "change type" when you click it you get a dropdown where you can change between "post"...
Ok, so based on what you're saying, you were using a different WordPress based classifieds theme beforehand (i.e. it wasn't an upgrade from a previous version of ClassiPress)?
