If registration was double opt-in with an email registration link this might not be an issue. That seems to be the standard everywhere else. Just not at AppThemes.

You can use captchas however you like. But you're not secured from spamming until tools like this exist:

You have to change 3 files.
1.- content-listing.php
2.- style.css
3.- includes/template-tags.php
