exactly, the pagination breaks the " the featured on the top ".
I think there is a plugin in the marketplace who set the featured ads always on the top, no matter when they were published....

they will be like sperated themes working on separated folders in the same website.

You dont have real featured ads, you duplicated 3 same ads at time the slider needs at least 5 real ones.
You can go to ads => edit few ads => mark them as " featured on the home page" , the...

I think you should ask the author of the plugin for that answer. I am not qualified to know.
