Hello,

I am wanting to build a network of websites for each town I live near.

On Each website I would like to offer the visitor the choices provided by

Vantage - ClassiPress & JobRoller combined

Is this possible under one domain name? Even if I have to create subdirectories for each theme?

If I can I would want to create at the top of the pages and simple menu that would navigate to each theme.

In a perfect world, I would want the ability for a user to have to only register their details once and be able to use any of the services.

Yes you can certainly install the other themes in subdirectories, this would be the recommended method when using multiple themes. You may also want to look at a WordPress multisite setup to manage the installations as well as shared user database ability. It's easy to create a custom menu in WordPress, so you can simply do this to add the links to other areas of the site. Thanks.

Can it be done with a theme switcher?

Similarly to the original poster, I would also like to have the following features all on the one installation of Wordpress:

+ Directory
+ Events calendar/list
+ Classified Ads
+ Gallery
+ Shop

There is no confirmation of anyone doing this specifically, the more common setup for multiple themes is to have a WordPress multisite setup, with installations in various subdirectories:

e.g.
yourdomain.com <== Homepage theme
yourdomain.com/classifieds <== ClassiPress
yourdomain.com/directory <== Vantage
