Vantage is not encrypted, so you are free to make
customizations as you wish (such as changing the layout for categories). AppThemes does not officially support third party plugins, so we unfortunately cannot guarantee that all plugins will definitely be compatible with the theme out of the box. I'm not sure what you mean about changing the description, however if you're meaning for the lister to be able to edit the description from the front end, then yes.
