    Is a child theme necessary

    HI There,

Im considering purchasing this theme, I know my way around wordpress but am worried that if I make any changes without creating a child theme, when I update all my changed and customisation will be lost. Is that correct?

I don't know enough to create child themes.

    Thanks

We recommend that anyone making a lot of customizations to the default theme should create a child theme as yes you would definitely lose all of your changes in the course of an update. A theme update essentially replaces all the theme files, hence any changes you made will simply be gone. You may like to read this documentation on theme customizations which gives more information on how to create child themes. Thanks.

so if I change the colour from red to green by not using a child theme, when I do an update the colour will revert back to red, is that correct?

I am trying to understand what type of custimization will I loose with no child theme.

also once ive actived the child theme, do I need to make changes in .css as I am not a developer and prefer using the tools that wordpress provide not the coding.

I have created many websites using themeforest where no child themes are necessary. I like your template but am concerned regarding the coding involved in the child theme.

If you're changing the color of the theme by using the default theme color settings found in the ClassiPress admin dashboard, then this isn't a customization and you won't lose the color setting you've selected. If you've changed any theme code though, then that is a customization and you would lose those changes when updating.

The link provided in my previous post offers more specific information regarding making actual customizations, but if you're simply referring to choosing settings within the theme which aren't code changes, then they are not customizations. From what you're saying, it doesn't sound like you're referring to customizations at all, just configuration. Thanks.
