Claiming Listing Security Features?

Hi,

I see that your theme supports claiming listings. This is a truly powerful feature. But with great power comes great responsibility. How does vantage ensure that the business listing is being claimed by the owner, and not by someone else?

For example foursquare calls the number on file or sends out a snail mail.

(for vantage, I would recommend something like using the Twilio platform to schedule a call, since it is relatively inexpensive. I love the "claiming" feature, but if you have the wrong people claiming the listings, you can have a lot more trouble on your hands than you solve.

Please let me know on this feature's current status and future plans and their timelines (if any)

Thanks for your feedback. Currently the process of deciding whether or not the person claiming to be the owner of the business is legitimate, is in the hands of the admin. If a listing has the option to be "claimed", you can also set in the Vantage admin to ensure these claims are moderated, so they effectively go back into draft mode until you accept or reject the claim. If you for example wanted to do a snail mail verification process then potentially you can. This is a manual process though, not specifically handled by Vantage.

I'm not personally aware of any planned changes to this particular feature at this time, however I will seek further information if possible and will update this thread accordingly. Thanks.

To clarify further, there are no plans to build a verification system for the "claim listing" function into the theme.
