    Clipper App

We are interested in the clipper app.

So we have a few questions.
Can the script import coupons into the site from other sources without our involvement?
The other question? Can we use the business model of selling subscriptions to business owners to allow them to create coupons for a fee. Example 5 coupons for $xx using paypal subscriptions

    Thanks

    Jerry

    Hi Jerry!

Clipper does not have a built in system for importing coupons automatically. You can import coupons, but it requires some action on your part.

BUT there is a third-party solution! Coupilia offers a plugin and service that feeds coupons to your Clipper site automatically. You just need to set it up and let it go.

You can see a video tutorial on how that works here: http://docs.appthemes.com/clipper/ge...ed-for-clipper

You can also get more details about the coupon feed from Coupilia: http://www.coupilia.com/apps

This is a great option for Clipper owners. It gives you access to coupons from some major retailers.

As far as selling listings, that's something we are working on at this very moment. We are adding our new payments API which will allow you to charge for listing coupons on your site. The first implementation will be pretty simple. There will only be one pricing plan and no expiration date on the listing (coupon expiration dates will remain). As we continue updating the theme, we will start to add more options to the pay to list feature. No specific time table for releasing this but look for it around October.

    Hope that answers your questions.

    Cheers!

    Very Nice one more question

So the first cut will have only one subscription, no expiration date? So does that mean that the account will stay active? I was hoping it would be a renewal type account, you pay and you can continue submitting coupons......and coupon expiration would be the next renewal date.....

will it have the ability to limit number of coupons based on the type of subscription in the future

    I appreciate the feedback.

    Thoughts?

Eventually it will have other features. It just takes some time to develop features like this to maturity.

The basic model on launch should be like the following...

    * Jim (just using a name) posts coupon - we'll call this a coupon listing or simply a listing
    * Jim sets the expiration for the coupon. This is the expiration for the coupon or how long the coupon is valid - not expiration for the listing. Some coupons may not have an expiration date.
    * Listing stays until Jim takes it down or the coupon expires. Jim does not owe any more for that coupon listing.
    * If Jim wants to post another coupon, he pays again for that coupon listing.
    * Jim could post 20 coupons at once and would owe for each coupon listing separately.

The key here is that coupons and coupon listings would have separate expirations. In the initial implementation, the coupon listing would have no expiration.

We originally created Clipper without intending to add a pay-to-list function. We have had too many requests to include it so we are doing that now. The problem is that some of the code terms used to expire a coupon are similar to the code terms we have used to expire a listing in our pay-to-list system. So we have to sort that out.

As we work out these issues, we will be able to add features. Getting a basic pay-to-list system in Clipper will help us gather feedback on the most wanted features. Subscriptions, pricing plans and bulk pricing will likely be considered.

To specifically answer your last question, subscription pricing would definitely not be included in the initial payments implementation.

Does that clarify what will be possible? Let us know if you're still not sure.

    Cheers!
