    Customization of site

    In order to customize the site do we have to add a child theme?
    Also I read that I would need to know a little html and css to customize the style of the site, so do we just have to complete simple css coding? Basically I know a little, so please point me in the right direction

    Child theme is not always required for theme customization however it is a recommended approach as changes to the child theme will not be affected when theme update comes.
