Difference in Features between Classipress and Vantage

Hello, I read some of the posts about the differences between Classipress and Vantage, but many of the posts were quite old and there have been updates since then.

It seems that Classipress can work quite well for a directory type site. I'm not really clear on what specific features that Vantage has (which Classipress doesn't). Other than the "Claim Your Business" button and the overall look, can someone please list the additional features which Vantage has? (I'm still leaning toward Classipress at this point unless I can be convinced that Vantage is better.) My site is a basic talent directory (though there would be no need to claim a listing.) I would charge for a featured ad only, and the lister would definitely need to be able to list themselves in multiple categories.

Hi Evan, the themes are designed for specific purposes (ClassiPress for classified ads and Vantage for directory listings), so whilst yes you can modify either of these themes to suit your needs, Vantage itself is going to continue to be developed towards the directory listings purpose, and thus offer more features that ClassiPress will not. The next major release of Vantage v1.2 will include:

Events
Sortable listings pages
Multiple listings on a single map
Large map for home page and listings pages
Different map pins for events and listings
Draggable map pins when creating a listing
Driving instructions
Contact business owner forms
Rich snippet microdata for SEO
New pricing plans that allow multiple categories

There are no immediate plans at this time for ClassiPress to include multiple category selection for users (although you can manually do this from the wp-admin), so Vantage will indeed have this functionality first. Thanks.

New theme based on Vantage + Classipress

Awaiting for Vantage 1.2 I think a new theme with the following additional features is more than welcome:

Business listings
Events
Offers (occasional ads let's say) - allowing business owner to ad offers with prices (some classipress functions implementation)

Let's consider that we have listing categories like Hotels and Restaurants, wouldn't be nice to allow business owners to ad also some offers with prices besides events ?

Advanced search based on post type / taxonomy.

And post type / taxonomy widgetized homepage is a must nowdays.

Vantage would still be the closest fit to what you describe as it already offers business listings, and events will come in the next version, so adding other features could be achieved through customization. The advanced search in Vantage will in future also allow custom fields. Thanks.
