I don't want others to post listings...

Is it possible to create a single account and deny all others access? I did not see the ability to disable registrations in the admin menu.

The end goal is to post my own inventory on my web site.

Yes, you can easily turn off user registration from within the WordPress admin backend. It's just a checkbox.

Then I hate to ask a dumb question but where?

I see an option to not allow unregistered users to post. But no option that definitively stops people from registering.

In wordpress itself:
admin > settings - Membership - Anyone can register - uncheck this.
