    Functionality questions

    Hello

Great work on your theme! I'm very interested in your product. Before I purchase, I was hoping you could answer a few of my questions regarding the theme's functionality.

    Best wishes
    Emily.

Can users subscribe to receive an email update or RSS feed update for when a new job is posted that matches certain criteria (e.g. a specific salary range, a specific location, in a specific category)?

Is there a mobile version, or is the template responsive?

Can you change the titles of the search criteria (e.g. change the "salary" criteria to "age") and add new criteria that have checkboxes, text boxes or radio buttons? E.g. by adding a criteria of "applicant location".

Does the theme allow me to create a discount coupon for job post prices?

Can there be sub-categories within job categories? E.g. within the "law" job category, could there be "property", "commercial" and "criminal" law sub-categories?

Does the theme create a profile of each employer that the job seeker can view, which lists some information about the employer and all their current job advertisements?

Do employers get an email notification when someone applies for a job through the website?

Can job seekers mark jobs as 'favourites' and save them on a 'favourites' list?

I would like to set up some advertisements that will be months-long, and some which will be neverending. Could Job Roller set up a monthly direct debit payment for each month that such long advertisements are posted for?

Can a different price be set for advertisements in different job categories? E.g. a different price to post a "law" job compared to posting an "accounting" job?

Does the theme support additional widgets?

Hi Emily, thanks for your feedback, we're more than happy to answer your questions:

There are already RSS feed icons available so that users can subscribe to feeds for featured jobs, latest listings, job type, job salary, or job category. You can see examples of this on the JobRoller demo e.g. Job type > freelance, the icon appears to the right of the "Freelance Jobs" heading here. Allowing a feed relating to location would involve some modification of the default theme.

We do not currently have responsive or mobile versions of our themes, however this is something we are working on for future releases.

The content/options for the job categories, types, salary fields are all editable from the JobRoller admin dashboard, however editing the title or adding more actual options such as location would require some customization of the default theme files as they are not changeable from within the admin panel. Our themes are not encrypted, so you are free to changes of this nature if you wish.

There is currently no coupon function built into the theme.

You can definitely create sub-categories, however the theme isn't designed to display them in the sidebar options, so that would require additional customization.

Job listers have an author page which shows their avatar and job listings, and every listing allows a URL link to the external website, but there is no actual employer profile page.

Job applications are emailed directly to the job lister, with you as admin having an option to be bcc'd on these applications.

There is no "favourites" option available at this time.

You can set up job packs for whatever duration you like, however there is no automatic payment functionality built into the theme. Job packs can also be assigned to specific categories upon setup.

Yes, the theme supports additional widgets.

I hope this information helps. Thanks :)

    Responsive Design

    Hi Emily,

I am interested in a couple of your themes, specifically Job Roller and Vantage, I really like the design and functionality. However, as soon as I saw they did not employ "responsive design"... I will not even consider them. Any website, especially a Job or Directory portal, that can not be easily viewed on a mobile device is, in my humble opinion, a waste of money. So... do you have plans to release your themes with responsive design and when? I would highly recommend it as your top priority. (And I am guessing you already know all of this... )

    Thanks,
    Vernon

Hi Vernon, yes we are most definitely looking at making all of our themes responsive and acknowledge this is something pretty much everyone is asking for! Our team are working on this now, and making plans for future releases, however we unfortunately do not have a specific time frame in which we can indicate when this will be available just yet. Hopefully soon we will have a better indication of this for the benefit of those asking. Thanks.
