How are CVs displayed in the CV Search?

CVs are normally uploaded as a word/pdf document, however in the CV search feature in your admin, it shows the CV as a custom post type. Does this mean the word/pdf document gets turned into a custom post once uploaded or something?

When a recruiter browses CVs, are they able to download the word/pdf file or can they only view it on the site as a post? I need functionality where recruiters can simply search and download the pdf/word file itself.

By default, the resume/cv functionality in JobRoller does not allow the job seeker to upload their resume, they need to input the data to the resume form, yes it is a custom post type. The FXtender Pro plugin does allow you to upload them and for recruiters to download them however, amongst other additional options. Thanks.
