    Images Implementation in 3.0

Will Classipress 3.0 take advantage of the Wordpress native media Gallery
for image uploads and edits, or will it keep the current implementation of things, or both?
Or does it already use Wordpress media for image management?

Can you please explain what native media gallery is?
Always treat everyone with respect and courtesy, but trust no one.

3.0 will be fully integrated with the WordPress media library so there will be no need to create or use the "uploads/classipress" folder anymore. Uploaded images will now go in whatever folder structure you've setup in your wordpress (i.e. 2009/11/). You will also be able to browse, delete, modify your ad images via the media library which means the ClassiPress "Images" admin page will be phased out.

    sweet,

How will this affect someone migrating from previous versions of CP,
will images in existing posts be still visible or will they have to be uploaded?

To be honest I'm not 100% sure of what's going to happen with that aspect? I will have to ask about this side of it and will post back once I know more.

In saying this, if you haven't purchased CP yet then you won't really need to worry about this too much as beta testing is starting on 3.0 now so the release won't be that far away. It's really only those of us who have existing sites that need to worry about manual migration or anything like that.

Remember also that licence prices will be increasing with 3.0 so purchasing now will be cheaper, and of course upgrades are free so you'll get 3.0 at the price CP is now.

Ok, I have checked with David regarding how existing users will deal with the images and he has confirmed he is building in a module that will make pre-3.0 images backward compatible. Essentially it will check to see if the images custom field exists, and if so then use those images. Then any new ad created in 3.0 will work as normal 3.0 ads should.

This is great news! I'm glad to know this as well
