Do you have a tool to import ads from another database like from an XML file? If not, how would you recommend we do this? We'd love to use ClassiPress -- it looks slick.

You can use the built-in WordPress importer tool which will bring in your old posts. It really depends what you are importing your old posts from though. There will be some manual process since not all fields will map 1 to 1. What did you generate the XML file from?
