    JobRoller+ buddypress?

    Hi - I was wondering if JobRoller will work with Buddypress or would it need to be installed as a separate WP install - meaning users would have to re-register to post a job entry.
    There doesn't seem to be any clear answer on the forums.

    Bump!

    Hi I too would like to know more about this. I love Jobroller but it would be COMPLETE if it also had the ability to give the Applicant a profile. For instance, lets say you build a freelance site using Jobroller. People can post the jobs but what about the freelancer? It would be great if the Freelance could create an electronic portfolio so the job searchers could also search through a directory of freelancers, web designers, electricians, carpenters, etc. And of course, the Freelancer would also pay a subscription for the portfolio.

    I have only seen mention of one person who is attempting to integrate JobRoller and BuddyPress, and I believe they were having some issues with layout, so I can't confirm if they have been entirely successful.

    AppThemes does not officially support third party plugins or customizations, so effectively if you did want to use BuddyPress, it's really going to be up to you to get it working.

    In terms of profile pages in JobRoller, this theme is still progressing with every release. The next one planned (V1.4) will see even more features included, so you can always check back when official features are confirmed to see if this is more to your requirements.

    Ok. I wouldn't be worried to much about the layout aspect it would be more the logins+passwords.
    Shame, as it would be really handy.

    Is jobbroller compatible with other appthemes in terms of login's and passwords?

    My plan is for a jobdesk, directory and hopefully buddypress system to replace a forum. I understand the directory apptheme isn't out yet so will try to build a basic one myself as an interim. Only problem is all the separate logins needed for the different features.

    Can you elaborate further on what you mean by this;

    Is jobbroller compatible with other appthemes in terms of login's and passwords?
    The Appthemes hemes are Wordpress themes and so they need separate WP installs if you want to use all of them.

    Hi - I mean that if you were using jobroller and say vantage that you could login with the same username/password.

    You need to do some code modifications in the wordpress core files to have it implemented like this one My experiments in Open Source: Setting up a common login across multiple wordpress installations .

    hmm.. so not really if you have separate databases.
    Do users of multiple appthemes find this ok generally or is appthemes better as a standalone on a website with no other wordpress themes?
    Maybe I should look at a different solution other than wordpress.

    You can definitely share the user database between multiple WordPress installations..there are many tutorials on how to do this if you search Google, such as this one.

    AppThemes themes are designed as stand alone WordPress themes, so they do require their own instance of WordPress to run. So, in saying this, if you wanted to have a website using both JobRoller and Vantage you can easily achieve this by installing the themes in a subdirectory. e.g.

    yourdomain.com <== Your Vantage installation
    yourdomain.com/jobs <==Your JobRoller installation

    Then use the WordPress custom menus function to create links in the navigation menu for each. You can of course then make use of the tutorial as mentioned above to share the user databases, requiring only one logon between both installs.

    It's just BuddyPress we can't be sure of as it's a plugin, and therefore compatibility issues may come into play when using it with one of our themes.

    You mean install as many wordpress as needed but in directories, with one also possible at the root - if it was a blog say.

    Then use the WordPress custom menus function to create links in the navigation menu for each.
    is this an internal wordpress menu or do you mean on the live website?

    It's just BuddyPress we can't be sure of as it's a plugin, and therefore compatibility issues may come into play when using it with one of our themes.
    If it was installed in the root blog say and only thing it was using was the shared user DB to make logins easier would that be possible do you think?

    domain.com <== buddypress
    domain.com/jobs <== jobroller
    domain.com/directory <== vantage
    domain.com/classi <== classipress
