Location: Pull Down Select Box

Is it possible to create a list of locations and for the users to just pick a specific location (list of states or city) via a pull down select box?

alabama
alaska
etc.
etc..
etc...

This will then prevent users from entering all sorts of abbreviations or spelling variations for one state - like california, cali, calif, ca - which basically only refer to one place - claifornia.

This will make the site much neater and organised. More professional and searching locations much easier.
Hopefully, as the theme matures, creating an advance search for all classifieds listings by a specific location will be possible.

Yes, you could just convert the current location field into a dropdown box with a pre-defined set of options. Just make sure you keep the field name the same otherwise it won't save properly.

Will this be easy to achieve? Would you be willing to tell me how this can be done exactly? Unfortunately,I dont have much experience with php etc...
