Multi Language Site

I need to have a site in two languages, English and French, does clssipress support this in a similar vein to, for instance, qtranslate in that the english and french versions of the advert can be entered at the same time?

ClassiPress doesn't officially support multi-languages at this stage, although I believe there are users who are using plugins to achieve what you're asking. Something like this plugin I believe is working for at least 1 user I am aware of, and others have managed to customize by changing a bit of code (which is shared in the forums - but obviously you won't be able to access this unless you're a paid customer)

I haven't personally translated CP before, but from the amount of people who have already done so it appears to be a fairly straightforward process.

If you were to go ahead and purchase ClassiPress you will be able to have full access to the support forums, where you can find a specific thread on how to actually complete the process, as well other members of the CP community who should be able to point you in the right direction also.

you can use WPML plugin to translate your site into Italian. i am currently using this and it works well.

Great product...lousy documentation and very few tutorials for modifications of the theme. Be prepared to spend long hours dragging through code to find out where to make simple changes. There is a forum but you will find there are very few users who can help you out

The only this is that with WPML you are relying on online translation where as with using a fixed language file you can guarantee that displayed text is accurate.

I am hopeful that we will see the ability to have sites with multiple language files which then allow visitors to select what language they desire and for it to be remembered via cookie, etc. Would be even better if it would sniff the browser agent to and load the appropriate language if available.

Absolutely not the case!!!

WPML allows you to isert your own translations for everything. They even offer a translation service built in. To get it from the horses mouth http://wpml.org/

I stand corrected. Very interesting indeed. I always wrote it off as I didn't bother to look at it in detail (until your post just now). How well can it be integrated with Classipress? We should get a tutorial for using it with Appthemes themes ;).

its a great plugin and has really good documentation for integration ( took me about 10 mins to get it all set up )
