Portuguese Language

I'm wanting to create a Brazilian Portuguese Language Classifieds website. I want to create it for Brazilians to use, and update their classifieds, but I want to do the development of the site in English. Does installing the language pack mean that they view the site in Portuguese? Or does it mean I can do the Admin in Portuguese?

you will be able to convert the theme to portuguese but you can also keep the admin in english. Just watch though version 3.0.5 has serious problems with multi languages if you want to convert posts into different langages you are best installing an old version of classipress 3.0.4

Just so we're clear on this, and so you're not steering people wrong with your comments..are you referring to the WPML plugin again when you talk about "serious problems"? Because there aren't any issues I am aware of with using .mo files for translations..

hi pepsi, just to be clear.... thewre are no problems converting the theme! ( apart from the fact that most language mo files have not been updates for the version 3.0.5 and above)

but there are many problems creating a 'multi language site' and its not just to do with the WPML plugin..

Ok thanks for clarifying. I think it's important to know that when people are asking about a specific language here though, they're not necessarily wanting to create a site using multiple languages at once (such as what WPML does).

To avoid confusion in future, I would ask that you please leave the threads in this section of the forums to our team to answer. If a person is asking about an actual multi language site, we will share your concerns about plugin compatibility, but for the majority, people generally translate the site into one other language, and there is no issue with those using .mo files as you say. We of course are still trying to obtain more translation files for our languages page. Thanks.

Going back to the original question, the language packs we have available generally indicate if it includes the admin translation or not. In cases where it does not include it, then yes, only the front end is in e.g Portuguese but the ClassiPress admin is in English.
