    Pre Sales

    Hi

Please can you advise on the following:

    1. How are multi locations and cities handled by Vantage..e.g how these are created, does it support multi city. I want to add multiple cities via csv import is this possible

    2. The Demo does not work on an Ipad for add listings just get a blank screen after entering next step..why?

    3. Is vantage buddypress compatible

    4. How is address validation handled e.g does it validate via the Google API.

    5. What is the format for setting addresses. The demo does not recognize valid street address formats for Asia

    6. Is it WPML compatible

    7. How does the search function work. Does it support parametric search or is it just post titles

    Thanks

    In answer to your questions:

    1. Vantage doesn't specifically handle locations outside of selecting the location from the map during the listing process. If you're looking to have a multi city setup you could potentially look at WordPress multisite with an instance for each location and selection from the homepage (would require customization)

    e.g.
    location1.yourdomain.com
    location2.yourdomain.com
    etc

Or set up the categories as locations.

    2. Whilst the demo site is fully functional, you cannot save data to it, so you cannot complete the listing process. There should have been a message to clarify this before you entered the demo site. Vantage is responsive though, so is designed to be used on any device.

    3. We don't officially support third party plugins, so unfortunately cannot guarantee that these will all work out of the box. You would likely need additional customization in order to make this plugin work correctly.

    4. Yes, locations are handled through the Google maps integration.

    5. You just need to set your location within the themes geo settings as shown on the Vantage admin demo.

    6. Not currently out of the box, no. You can read more about this here. We do not have a confirmed time frame for when this may be ready for our other themes aside from ClassiPress.

    7. Vantage will search across title, description, categories, tags, address, phone, facebook, twitter, website URL and custom form field values as well. Thanks.

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

    A few further queries:-

Multi City - if you set the address on the map for multiple cities how is this shown on the Vantage site - are the locations registered as a seperate taxonomy?

I assume they are registered somewhere if you can set the address?

Do you have a link to a multi city install as I cant quite understand how this works on Vantage

Lets say I have 10 cities - I would then like to create categories/sub-cats for each city - is this possible?? Don't want to use subdomains for multiple cities

WMPL - mmm ok is Vantage compatible with any translation plugins and/or how is the theme set up for translation - poedit etc

    Thanks

When you set a location for a listing on the actual listing form, it can appear on the main page map (the map widget itself is optional widget setting within the theme), and sidebar map, with the address also visible in the listing. You can only set one location per listing, and it's a custom field within the listing information as shown on the admin demo.
If you're looking for an example of a site where they've set up locations as categories, there is this one from the AppThemes customer showcase. You can create whatever categories/subcategories you like.
You can find information about theme translations and use of .po files on our languages page. Thanks.

    Hi

Taking a look at the sample site they do this for locations http://hvaccompanyusa.com/listings/c...c-contractors/

That is not something I want to do

As the location is a custom field how is this registered in vantage...is it an actual custom taxonomy?

Let's say I have 10 cities they all have the same listings categories to choose ..how will this be displayed/recognized in vantage?

Do. You have an example of a multi location site NOT using locations as categories

    Thanks

The theme has Google maps integration, so location data is used for the physical maps which appear as mentioned. The example in the showcase is just one way you "could" manage locations (as categories), the other would be potentially an instance of the theme for each location in a subdirectory

    e.g.
    yourdomain.com/location1
    yourdomain.com/location2
    yourdomain.com/location3

Which you could set up on a WordPress multisite installation with customization for a landing page where the actual location would be selected. Unfortunately we have not had such a site submitted to us for the showcase, but we are aware that this is something customers have done. Thanks.
