    Question on Functionality

Your appthemes.com Vantage plugin may work for me... I have a couple of questions... I have a straight HTML site that I am going to convert to wordpress... the site will be a "regular" info type site with listing functionality. I want companies to be able to list themselves for a fee... which this plugin seems to be able to do very well... The main question is this: I have a bunch of pages broke down by cities and states... for example, alabama... and for that page I have text and such related to alabama and what my company sells... (I can't list the site but it doesn't matter for this question - the explanation should be enough)... I would like for all the companies who are in the directory in the state of Alabama to show up on the sidebar on that Alabama page... and say for example, on the Atlanta page... only companies who are listed and in atlanta (or the surrounding areas) to show up on that Atlanta page. Can this plugin do that too? Have specific / filtered listings show up on different pages according to the topic (in this case a city and/or state) for a page? If this plugin cannot inherently do... I would think it could be coded by using php and checking the link to see which page the viewer is on and then returning the proper results for that page through code. If so, how hard would thabt be... any code snippets you can give out? Also, can I use my own templates with this like Avada or The7, etc? Thanks

    Follow-up Question

I wonder if the Logic Widget would work for what I need: http://marketplace.appthemes.com/plugins/logic-widgets/

    One other thing

One other thing... would love it if a business can list their company... and able to showcase their products on their details page... for example... a real estate company has a listing... and they can showcase some of their properties on their details page? If not, anyone have any ideas on how to make that work or perhaps combine it with another theme or perhaps a widget?

To clarify, Vantage is a stand alone theme, not a plugin, so no you would not be able to use another theme at the same time. Vantage isn't designed to separate listings into locations as you have described, but you could achieve something similar through use of a WordPress multisite setup (which would essentially require multiple instances for each location, or if you set up the categories as the locations for a niche market it could be similar to this site from our customer showcase. These options would of course likely require additional customization on your part for location selection etc.

The widget plugin is created by one of our marketplace developers, but not AppThemes, so for best clarification of its functionality we would recommend you connect with the developer directly by posting on the comments tab of that marketplace page and they can respond.

To your further notes, you can have a look at the customer showcase for examples of what AppThemes customers are doing with the theme. What you mention would require customization, however as our themes are not encrypted, you are free to make modifications if you wish. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I know Vantage is a stand along theme and not a widget... I misspoke when I originally posted. I also have purchased the Classified theme from you guys in the past so I know what it's about. I am not sure that a multsite setup would work... as each location I would have is just 1 page - dont need an entire site build around each page. I guess the best way to get the answers I need is to just check something in the marketplace that does close to what I need and go from there.

One other thing... on the last feature I talked about... you implied I can meander through the showcase to try to find a site that can do stuff I need to... do you know of any of them that shows where a person... a user who lists their business on my site be able to put their products or services or for my situation the properties they have for sale on their user details page? The closest thing I saw was this: http://marketplace.appthemes.com/plu...er-for-vantage but it takes a person off the user details page... having it on the user details page would be awesome. Thanks

Oh, one more thing... setting each location as a category is a possible solution... can we put in detailed information for each category... I assume each category can have it's own page... so when people click on it they go to that category's page and it can have a ton of category related content that we put in rather than just a blog listing. Can we have a bunch of content on that category? A lot of themes/templates dont allow the category to have content on it or be it's own page... many themes just has the category page shows posts in that category but not a detailed - HTML coded or fully realized with content category page isn't an option. Is it with this theme?

I'm not aware specifically of a site which features it that I can refer you to, just that similar suggestions have been mentioned in the past so it's likely someone has done something similar by now. The plugin is probably the closest product available at this time, but if you're looking more for custom work, of note we do have a certified partners page where you can find developers for hire who are experienced at working with our themes.

Categories are displayed as seen on the demo site, they are a custom taxonomy rather than a "page" you can edit in the wp-admin, so any changes to this would also require customization on your part. Thanks.

thanks... I can make all of the above work... the only other thing I would be looking at is if a person can add properties to their listing... ie. say this is a real estate company business directory. I would like it so a company can list their properties too... and that the properties could be searchable as well. Can you think of any plugins, themes, etc. that will make that happen?

There aren't any specific plugins currently available in our marketplace which would offer what you describe, as the theme itself is designed for business listings, not listings as well as products/properties (or specific items for sale), so you're more likely going to need to carry out the customization work. Potentially you could make use of ClassiPress as well which would allow product/property listings, but still with the modifications required to "link" the listings to the property listings as well. Thanks.
