Questions I need answered before buying JobRoller

    Hello There,
I am very interested in the Jobroller Theme however The set up on the demo is a little different than how I need it to work. Here are some questions I need answered before I commit to buy:

    1. I would need to disable the option to charge potential employers to post as well as job seekers to search through openings and post resumes. The revenue from he site would need to come from advertising. Is this possible to set up a charge by add scenario? Also, would it be possible to charge only for the "Featured job option"? Lastly, Could only charge if the resume poster wants to add a picture and/or become a "featured resume"? Just how customizable are the charging options?

    2. Though I would be using the Wordpress template and such I would prefer for my web address to remain a ".com" address and not have Wordpress anywhere in the title. I was thinking of having Hostgator as my Web Hosting and will probably register the domain through them. Will that be an easy transfer?

    3. Would it be possible to have the "Post resume" button or section more clearly represented on the Jobroller homepage or will that need a plugin?

    4. Using plugins to incorporate job postings from indeed and other sites (where plugin is available) Do I have the option as admin of picking and choosing which openeings remain posted on my site or do they just automatically post without the option of screening. For example: Say I was starting a job website specifically for people who may have a disability. I need only job postings available that would not require heavy lifting, standing for long periods of time, etc.
So I wouldn't want all job listings from these other sites, just ones with maybe specific keywords or at least a way for me to screen them before they are posted to my site. Is there a way to do that? If not than I would need the job openings section to be solely from direct postings onto the site directly. Can you explain what my options are regarding this?

    5. Lastly, I am super to new to the whole starting a website thing and though I'm sure I can catch onto how to effectively adim, are there lots of tutorials to help. Also, is there a 24x7 phone support line in case I need immediate support?

    Thank you soooo much!!
    Sincerely,
    Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, in answer to your questions:

    1. You can disable registration on the site (which prevents people from posting jobs), but if you have set up accounts or allowed previous registration then the "Submit a Job" button will still be accessible to users who are already registered. It would require some minor theme modification if you wanted to remove that button altogether, but if you're still wanting to allow users to post jobs for a fee then you'd need this button enabled. You can create job plans and potentially make job listings free with only featured job options if you wish. Job Listings are visible to everyone, so there is no specific setting to restrict access of these. You can control visibility options for resumes/cv's and even charge to view resumes if you wish. There is no option to charge only for images or featured resumes as described. You can find the available resume plan options here.

    2. The free WordPress.com blog sites do not actually allow you to use custom themes on them, so it would not be possible to use JobRoller (or any of our themes) on that kind of setup, i.e. one where "WordPress" is in the domain name. You would need to sign up with your own hosting provider (and HostGator happens to be one of our recommended WordPress hosts - you can read more about our promotion here).

    3. You can certainly modify parts of the theme such as this if you wish, it would require some knowledge of css/php to make changes to the default theme, but you can find some nice examples of customized JobRoller theme sites here in the AppThemes customer showcase.

    4. Indeed integration is already built into the theme, so it does not require an additional plugin to work. You choose what the criteria is for the jobs that you want to be pulled into your site by setting "Job Listing Queries", so yes you can select only specific types of jobs. This applies to any of the other job aggregator plugins for JobRoller available in the AppThemes marketplace.

    5. We provide theme documentation on our website for much of the initial setup, and all support is carried out within the AppThemes forums where our support staff can assist, as well as an active community who often also pitch in to help others. We do not offer telephone support though. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your response, I'm so sorry I tried reading the response to first question a couple times and I am a little confused. I think it's a little too ambitious of me to want to have certain features paid for and others not so I will rephrase my question in hopes that I'll understand the answer a little better haha.

Can I just disable the pay option all together and have job seekers and job posters just post resumes and listings for free? I just want to sell advertising space like banner space on the site, Does the site have advertising space anywhere on the page? Can I have it set up (maybe with a widget) where I charge people and they submit their banner and then I can upload it on the site?

    Thanks Again,
    Jennifer

No problem Jennifer ;) Yes, you can definitely just make job listings and posting resumes free if you wish. There are advertising spaces within the theme which you can configure in the JobRoller settings > "Advertising" tab as seen on the demo site here, and also within the widgets area. There is no advertising manager which would actually handle payments of that advertising within the theme, so you'd be handling that manually outside of the theme itself, unless of course you're using Google Adsense, which is managed elsewhere. Thanks.
