Reselling themes as a developer

Good day all

I have been doing due diligence before my purchase. I am considering the app themes club developer. Why? I currently own many domains which I am about to start developing. Some will be for personal use and I would like the availability to resell some domains with an app theme installed if possible.

As far as I understand, I can resell the theme but minus support and updates. I don't like that idea at all. So, I conclude that to overcome this, when I resell a domain with an app theme installed , I can inform potential buyers that they will need to purchase a minimum $99 single theme standard package from app theme in order to receive support and updates. Wow, that means I will be doing free referrals for appthemes :)

Great I think I have that understood. If I am wrong please correct me.

Now my question is. The new owner of the website has for example a classipress theme installed by me. I get the new domain owner to purchase a standard single theme package (to get support etc). Do they need to purchase the exact theme(classipress) from apptheme in order to receive the proper updates, or can they buy another theme(e.g jobroller) and still receive updates for their currently installed theme (classipress).

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Kurt, to clarify, we do not have resellers for our themes.. so whilst you may purchase a developer license in order to create and sell websites to clients using our themes, you're not actually selling the theme itself. You are correct that a client purchasing a site with our theme installed does not automatically make them an AppThemes customer who would have access to support or updates. So, your scenario where you wish to resell domains with AppThemes installed is perfectly fine :) If you're looking to make some money from referrals, we would recommend that you join our affiliate program.

In order for the client to receive support and updates for a theme, then they need to purchase the same theme. e.g., No they will not be able to have support and updates for ClassiPress if they purchase JobRoller. Thanks.
