    shorten url

I am wondering if it is possible to not have a urls without the word category in it

    example mysite.com/cars-for-sale-new-york

    instead of having mysite.com/category/cars-for-sale-new-york

The reason that this is important for me is the url is shorter for display url in google adwords

I understand that you can configure with AdWords "Display URL" different from "Destination URL"

    Example:

    Display URL: mysite.com/cars-for-sale-new-york

    Destination URL: mysite.com/category/cars-for-sale-new-york

    Hi barukar,
    thank you for adwords response
I am still also wondering if a different word than category could be used or no word( for the search results)
As most people don't use the word category when doing search
and results maybe preform better from search engine
    thank you

If you're referring to search engine ClassiPress, the answer is yes, you can use other terms when doing a search. The search is made in terms contained in the description and tags.

    Hi barukar
I was meaning if someone is doing a google search
That without the word category the results would be a better match as category isn't really searched keyword
    thank you

Not an expert in SEO but I can say that several variant exists beyond the category and keywords that will make your site be easily found somewhere.

The best way of working is to set a good plugin SEO. I recommend the Wordpress SEO

So, Can We Modify the URL String on Vantage?

On the demo I notice that the URL string to a listing is a little deep: http://demos.appthemes.com/vantage/l...hadetree-cafe/. Now I understand in my install I can remove the /vantage as I'll have my Wordpress install directly on the root, but what about the /listings? Can we have it so that the listing shows one directory from the root? This would be www.rooturl.com/shadetree-cafe/.

This becomes even more important when we hit categories and tags as another directory deep is added. Is it possible to make the categories and tags appear as www.rooturl.com/tag-name-here/ instead of the default of www.rooturl.com/listings/tag/tag-name-here?

I'm not scared of code modifications, but just want to know if it's something that would be easy to achieve or would require a hardcore hack of the default.

    Best,
    Andy
