    Some questiones before buying

Some issues about ClassiPress I need to know before buying (I've been studing the demo and couldn't find out):

    - VERY IMPORTANT: Is it possible to differenciate users to charge a fee to one kind of them? Example, I want to build a website where normal people and shops can post their ads, and I want to charge to the shops for posting ads of new stuff. Would it be that possible?

    - Is there any plugin to change the featured ads function? I mean, I'd prefer that the featured ads appear in the first positions of the search related, instead of the upper slider

    - About the appearence of the site, I'd like to change the background of the header area and the ads area. Would it be possible to choose and upload a texture to place there?

    - Is there any plugin to put category icons?

    - I'm not sure about the facebook function. Does it mean that if someone use it over his add, this will be displayed as well in the website profile in facebook? (that would be great)

    - If I want to launch my website in another country, how would I differenciate the ads from one country to the other?

Thank you so much in advance!

    In answer to your questions:

    - ClassiPress allows you to create ad packages, but you cannot differentiate between different user types (there is only one kind by default). Essentially this would require customization of the default theme on your part if you were looking to implement such a thing.

    - There is no specific plugin available for this, however there are child themes for ClassiPress available in the AppThemes marketplace, some of which offer additional feature ad options.

    - Yes this is possible through customization. You can read more about theme customizations here.

    - No, there is no existing plugin for this.

    - Sorry, not exactly sure what you're asking here specifically? You can some information on our recommended plugins page relating to Facebook login/social media sharing.

    - You can potentially use a single installation, however if you're looking to perhaps create a separate instance for each location you may wish to look at a WordPress multisite setup. Thanks.

    Thanks for this quick answer!!

Thank you so mucho for these quick answers.

Regarding the question about the facebook functionality, I'll try to explain it better.

    My question is:

Let's say I have a facebook account for my classifieds website. When anyone posts an add and uses the facebook functionality
(press the facebook button), what will happen? will his post appear in the wall of the facebook site of the classifieds website?

Thanks you so much again for your support.

You're welcome, and thanks for the clarification :)

There is no actual Facebook functionality built into ClassiPress as such, the Facebook setting within the theme is simply for the icon to appear which takes you to the FB business page if you have one set up. If you're looking to show posts from your CP installation to feed into Facebook then you would need to use a plugin either for an actual feed or a share button to allow users to share individual posts. You can find some recommendations on our recommended plugins page. Thanks.

    Some more questions

    Hi Pepsi,

thank you so much again for your quick replies. I'm checking more and more this plugin, that seems really complete.
    I have some more questions:

    - Would it be possible to place an Advanced search widget on the left hand side? I want to build something like this: http://boards.mpora.com/classifieds/search (notice that when you choose a category, the search options change depending on the one chosen)

    - Would it be possible, to combine in the same site, a classifieds theme with a directory theme (Vantage)?

    Thanks!!

    About pricing

Just a clarification, once you have paid the price shown here http://www.appthemes.com/pricing/ for the option chosen... is it a lifetime licence or you have to pay a yearly renewal, as it says: "Single theme purchases are $29/year and Club is $79/year."?

I would like a clarifications because I'm not sure why isn't it clearly explained in the top of the page

    Thanks!

The initial theme purchase includes a lifetime license to use the theme, and 12 months of theme updates and support. After the 12 months has expired, you can continue to use the theme, however if you wish to have continued access to theme updates and support, you would need to pay the subscription renewal fee. This is explained in the bullet points under each license information box at the top of the pricing page. Thanks.

    Whoops sorry, missed those ;)

    - ClassiPress already has an advanced search functionality built into the theme as visible on the ClassiPress demo site. This appears in the category view sidebar only, so any modification to this would require customization of the default theme.

    - You could install multiple themes on the same site using subdirectories, e.g.
    yourdomain.com <== Vantage installation
    yourdomain.com/classifieds <== ClassiPress installation

And consider a multisite setup. Thanks.

    Some more details

Thanks again Pepsi for your answers. As I said I'm checking several possibilities for my classifieds site and I can tell you that your support with the pre-sales questions is the best I've found!!

    Here are some more questions:

    - One of the important issues about a platform is the performance. I've read that WordPress plugins for classifieds could have some performance problems with large number of users or advertisements, due to the core of the platform is a blog platform, not something designed as a classifieds platform. Do you have any measure about performance with large number of users and advertisements? or, do you know the limits of users and advertisements whith which the platform will performance properly?

    - In the worst scenario, that the platform reaches its limit and a migration is needed... would it be very difficult to migrate the data to another platform?

    - Is it possible to have several themes (classipress, vantage, jobroller...) in the same site, in different tabs, and share the same appearence?
    And share the user/login?

    Thanks again for your answers!

    Alvaro
