Uploading in bulk

Hi,

Although it appears people have asked and received answers to this query before, I unfortunately can not view them as I'm not logged in.

Before purchasing I would like to enquire regarding bulk uploads. For example, my site will be a niche classifieds site and to start populating it, it will need to be updated from several categories on other sites.

Can I update it using a CSV / XML file, or maybe even using your API etc.? What would you recommend here?

I'm thinking I will setup a cron job to scrape the other sites and then maybe upload the data to my classifieds site - the key to the entire process is automating it.

ClassiPress has a built in .csv importer as you can see from the ClassiPress admin demo, this will allow you to bulk upload listings. You can find other useful information in the AppThemes developer center. Thanks.

How are pictures uploaded? I would presume they have to be uploaded sepreatly and then linked in the CSV file, is that correct?

Yes, you'd upload them to your image directory and then use the .csv example file which includes attachments. Thanks.

Is it possible to buy as a plugin as opposed to a theme? I already have a theme I'm familiar with (Avada) and as such would like to use a classifieds plugin with that theme.

No, this is not available as a plugin. You could use it in conjunction with an existing theme by way of installing in a subdirectory, but it would still need to be on its own installation of WordPress so as not to overwrite the existing theme.
