Yes it is coming out soon, The team are working through some issues that came up during internal testing, so they'll continue to do this so we can release a more stable beta. As an estimate, we'd anticipate v1.2 beta would be out end of this month/early May (although hopefully closer to the former). Thanks.

Yes, if you purchase now, included is 12 months of theme updates and support, so you'll be able to upgrade to the newest version at no additional cost. Thanks.

What will be involved in the upgrade process for v1.2?

If I buy now and work with a developer to get things installed and setup, what will I need to do when new version releases? Is update process similar to wordpress, where I can just update without having to reinstall and it's seamless? Or would I be better off to just wait until 1.2 releases?

The upgrade process is very straightforward if you haven't made any changes the default theme as it's as simple as uploading and activating the new version, but if you are planning to customize it we would strongly recommend the use of a child theme to minimize the loss of your modifications in the process of an upgrade. Version 1.2 has a number of new features as it is a major release, and since it's not too far away you may wish to wait for that before starting and then having to make changes to suit the new version, however that's entirely up to you. Is there a release document (or something else like some marketing literature) available that outlines the new features / functionality coming in Vantage v1.2? I'm trying to do some site planning, and it would be helpful to know what new functionality is coming and what I might need to customize on my own.

There isn't a specific blog post for this as will likely come after the final release is actually made, but here are some of the features planned for v1.2:
