ZIP proximity searches in 3.0?

Can you please give me a definitive answer if ZIP proximity search will be included in the new 3.0 version?

Other than that your product fits my needs perfectly and I would be interested in purchasing the developer license.

Yes, in 3.0 there is a zip/postal code field (which you can also set as a required field to ensure your customer completes this when placing a new ad). So in turn, you can now search for zip codes, region, state along with other fields which are all part of the improved regional search and google maps functionality within CP.

Wow, that was a quick reply. Thanks. Just to clarify will I be able to search by proximity from the ZIP? For instance enter ZIP and have the selection of distance from that ZIP in miles?

Sorry, I don't want to steer you wrong here.. The regional search functionality is definitely improved in 3.0, but I can't say I know for sure about it giving you the specific results you're asking in terms of picking up more than the zip you search for? (I will inquire about it though).

Pepsi, could you please ask David if the following search capabilities are in v3.0 or will be in future v3x releases.

Ideally, a user could select a category such as Dogs and then select a city like Pasadena and see all Dog classifieds in the city of Pasadena.

Will this capability be functional in v3.0 or v3xxx in the future?

To answer your questions:

-There will not be any proximity by zip code feature in 3.0.
-You will be able to do a city and category search, however. Just select the Dogs category and enter the name Pasadena in the search box.

I plan on having a pivot table style functionality like Craigslist once WordPress can natively support it which will make it easy to narrow down your city/state.

This will definitely be implemented in the upcoming v3.1 release along with advanced search functionality.
