Aligning categories of front page

Hi,

Does anyone know of a plugin or way to align the categories displayed on the front page so they are more evenly distributed. I have read loads of other posts on this on the forum - some saying to use the 'my category order' plugin but in each case the last few posters of each thread are saying the solutions given previous no longer work in the latest classipress / wordpress versions. Most of the threads are quite old now also.

Any help on a solution for the latest versions of CP and WP will be much appreciated.
