Classipress Ideas Exchange
Have just returned to the forum after four months away. I'm VERY pleased to see that there is now a voting system for suggested features - the Ideas Exchange - but I have some comments.
It's called an Ideas 'Exchange' but no one is exchanging ideas. There are plenty of suggestions but very few comments. Now that there is no Suggested Features forum, why isn't everyone on the new forum having their say? The whole point of suggesting a new feature is to get some feedback. It seems rather futile to simply suggest an idea, give it three votes and then no one makes any comments.
Pepsi (and other moderators), you need to get more involved in the Exchange. We need to hear your comments on the suggested features. Some are clearly inviable, some are not very intelligible and need clarifying, some are excellent ideas. But not everything will be made clear by ideas being simply 'bumped up' by the votes. And what happens when there are 250 suggestions? Is anyone going to look at (and vote) more than the first page or two? Which basically means that a new low-vote suggestion could get lost. Perhaps there should be a 'sub-forum' of wannabee suggestions that don't make the grade??
I also think that the developers need to give quicker feedback to new ideas so that everyone knows whether the suggestion is viable or not. If it is then it can go on to another stage (maybe the voting stage?), if it isn't then it needs to be archived so we don't get snowed under. Basically there should be some kind of filter which only allows the most applicable/useful/feasible/possible suggestions through.
Hope I make some sense.
