EVRIKA on classipress migration from hardcoded theme to child themes?!

Hi all appthemers

I made the terible mistake of hardconding the default classipress theme for some time now and now I hit rock bottom.
My version is way behind and as my business grows I feel more and more unconfortable to not being able to update my theme.

I know there is no easy way of migrating everythink to a child theme especially as I did not keep track of all the files I altered,
but I had an ideea:

Could it be possible to install a fresh copy of the latest classipress theme, then make my actual hardcoded version a child theme, and then activate it as a child theme for the latest verions I would install?

I know this sounds crazy and will probablly return some errors, but trying this would be much easyer than just start EVERYTHING from scratch.

SO, you guys who have experinece and are real coders: would this be somehow possible and worth trying?
