Installing New Payment Gateway For South African Users

Although a total "amateur" (as I'm sure you already know) as I cannot afford to employ outside help at this time, but need to install an alternative (quick and easy) payment gateway on my site for South African advertisers - using the
Wp-E Commerce "Instinct" plug-in. As I have no choice but to attempt the implementation on my own - yet find the implementation (and activation) of "plug-ins" completely confounding. If anyone could explain (in layman's language) how I might go about achieving this - I would be eternally grateful.
