JavaScript issues in menu and category.

I have done several set ups of ClassiPress, but I just did a set up on a new Umbuntu server which I am running through Plesk.

On this set-up I have a strange phenomenon occurring:

The categories drop down menu does not appear at all, no matter what I change the category depth setting to.

The second problem is in the actual categories on the page. The child/parent relationship is not being followed all. When I change the category depth option for the categories, instead of controlling depth it controls the number of items displayed in each category. If I set the depth to 1 on 1 item is displayed in each category, if I set it to 2 tow items are displayed 3 = 3 and so on. It display all items in regardless of where the sit on the hierarchy in alphabetical order for that category.

This greatly affects my site when I try to have Sub-Sub categories, such as:
Electronic-computers-apple

and the listing shows:

Electronics
Audio (0)
Cameras & Equipment (0)
Computers (0)
Apple Products (0)
PCs & Accessories (0)

And then cuts off all rest of the items because I set the depth to 5. I don't when want the types of computers show, just computers and the rest of the items in the category.
