Paypal / Sandbox / IPN not working

I'm havng a bear of a time getting my paypal testing to work. I have followed all of the tutorials an dug through some of the threads here but still cannot get it to work. I have setup the Gateway settings as directed, setup my paypal sandbox buyer and seller as directed. here is what happens. A new ad gets posted and all is fine, goes to paypal for payment, make payment, click pay for ad and return to merchant. When redirecting back get security alert not using secure site, click okay. Then goes back to my site and a notice is displayed, ad is live, but it is not! It is in dashboard as pending.

Back in paypal, the buyer sandbox shows the payments but my buyer sandbox does not.

I ran the IPN test and it fails with this message:


Your information is incomplete or incorrect. Please correct the fields below and try again. * IPN handler url is invalid

I just use my url yes? www.mydomain.com?
