Problem with Pay Pal return - add-new-confirm

I am running Classipress v3.04 and running it on an IIs server. I got everything working great, I used the IIs URL Rewrite to get all of the URLs to work and it is all good exept for one thing. I have been testing ad payment with the PayPal Sandbox and when the payment is complete and the user clicks on the Publish This Ad button the url generates a 500 error - BUT if you highlight the URL in the browser and press enter (essentially resending the same URL) the connection completes and the confirmation page appears. I can't figure out what is hanging up the connection. I have tried this in IE7 FF3 and Chrome and the behavior is consistent in all three.
I know you don't really like to support IIS installations, I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar problem before. Perhaps it has to do with the sandbox?
I tried Classipress on Linux but it wouldn't work properly under a temporary URL so I had to shift over to my IIS server to get it going. Almost there if I can suss this out.
