uploading images fails in Safari on iOS7 on iPhone 5
I had an opportunity to use someone's iPhone 5 today. It was running iOS7. I tested a ClassiPress site using 2 browsers: the built-in Safari browser; and the downloaded Chrome browser. Both exhibited issues. This post is about the Safari browser.
I tried posting a new ad.
Using the "Flash" uploader, when I clicked the "Add Image" button, the device launched the camera, I took a photo with it, and ClassiPress uploaded it and displayed the thumbnail image. So far so good. However, after I clicked "Confirm" to go to the next step of the ad posting process, I got an error page saying:
An Error Has Occurred
image.jpg is not a valid image type (.gif, .jpg, .png). Please go back and upload a different image.
("Go back" button)
I also tried uploading an image
using the "Browser" uploader and I saw the same error page.
Questions:
- Have any of you tested uploading photos on Safari on an iPhone 5 running iOS7?
- Why do you think it failed in this case?
Test environment:
- Page: Add New (Step 1)
- Device: iPhone 5
- Operating System: iOS7
- Web Browser: Safari
- Other Details: HTTPS enabled on the page
- ClassiPress version: 3.3.1
- WordPress version: 3.7
I don't have access to the device on a regular basis.
