I want to have a different home page
Hi,
Okay, I'm trying to figure out how I can have a different home page displayed for the top level domain. It currently shows the directory layout.
What I would like, is a new page which will be called 'home' that is using the full width page layout. This will be the first page seen by visitors - almost like a welcome page.
I would then like the directory layout to be the second page but instead of being called 'home' it will be called 'Listings' or something like that.
I've created my welcome page and then created a custom menu so it appears first in the navigation. I've then placed the directory layout page (the original home page) second in the navigation.
When I go into the 'Reading' settings in the admin and define that the front page should display my new home page, it still defines the old home page as being the top level URL as well.
Looking in the custom menu settings, I see that the original home page is a custom item that has a URL. I also see in the header.php file the 'home' page is always defined as being the directory page.
The theme always wants to use the original home page first. Can anyone help me figure this out?
Thanks
