Username cannot take in Uppercase at registration?

Hello, after setting up several test accounts, I came to notice that website prompts that it can't accept registration because of illegal character, and that's whenever I start my username with an uppercase. So when I changed to lowercase, the registration got through... is that a bug? any workaround?
