    How to create new template page?

    I need to create a new template for the home page only. I have created a new template file, but it does not show in the template drop-down menu when I add a page. I thought it was a wordpress issue at first, but I applied all the fixes that I could find out there to no avail.

    Do I have to register a template file somewhere?

    Pretty frustrating.
