Job categories not showing in sidebar on main page

I've added job categories & also activated the job categories sidebar widget but the categories are still not displaying on the main page.

• I've cleared my web cache & restarted my browser - result: still not showing

• I've repeated the above plus deactivated & reactived all my sidebar widgets - result: still not showing

• Under Job Roller > Settings > General > Show Empty Categories - I've selected this to 'yes' - result: still not showing
