Jobroller registration email and job alert email not being sent

I have jobroller installed on my website and I just noticed today that the email a user is getting is the default wordpress welcome email instead of the jobroller email. So after checking the settings I've noticed that the Jobroller > Emails > New User Email > Enable customer email was set to NO. I've changed this to YES, deactivate all the plugins ( as this is what everybody was suggesting over here on the forum) created a new account and still the email I am getting is the WORDPRESS default instead of the jobroller one.
The second thing is after I enabled the job alerts a couple of days ago, I've set the cron to daily sending, but I still didn't get any email even if I am subscribed to job alerts with one of my account.
I've also tried the TEST EMAIL but no email is being sent.
Any ideas?
