Title Style

When I create new pages, the style of the page title (stock wp style) differs from the style of the theme (text within gray overhanging box). I noticed that templates are applied to each of the pages within the theme, but the standard page.php hasn't been adjusted accordingly. I've been tinkering with a fix on my own by trying to create a template of my own to solve this, but can't get it all to sit right on the page. Any thoughts?
