Blog page is showing full posts rather than excerpts

Hi,

The moment i installed the child theme my blog excerpts went away and the posts are showing full in the blog page.

Please tell me where to modify the child theme files to show excerpts only on Blog home page instead of displaying full posts.

( Though, there is a manual way to do is using 'more' tag in every blog posts, but that looks a tiresome work and not feasible if the blog hosts more than one author in future. )
