Will Stripe auto renew if they choose autorenew

I've recently installed stripe and it's working great, but am wondering how will it auto renew when it comes time? Does it email the customer and automatically take another payment through stripe, or do I need to do something else to enable that? No subscription is setup with stripe - should there be? Or does the wordpress website handle all that and just send it to stripe to take the payment ? I'm using Vantage with your Stripe plugin. Is there documentation somewhere for stripe/vantage together??
